How the check works
Every 5 minutes, for every exchange with live prices, we pick three liquid markets at random and read the best bid and ask straight from the exchange’s order book. We compare the midpoint with the midpoint ArbTide is showing at that moment.
- Gap is the difference between the two midpoints in basis points: 1 bp is 0.01%. It includes normal price movement since our last reading, so fast markets show a larger gap.
- Quote age is how old our price was when it was checked. Prices refresh every 10 seconds, and spreads only use quotes under 60 seconds old.
- A few exchanges publish no order book we can read without an account, so they are not checked here.
