Frequently asked questions
- Why do exchanges use different funding intervals?
- Most exchanges settle funding every 8 hours, but some pay every 4 hours or every hour, and some move a market to a shorter interval in volatile periods. Rates are only comparable after converting them to the same interval.
- Is 0.01% every 8 hours the same as 0.01% every hour?
- No. 0.01% every hour is eight times as much: 0.08% per 8 hours, or 87.6% APR, compared with 10.95% APR for 0.01% every 8 hours.
- Does the conversion include compounding?
- No. The rate is scaled linearly by time, which matches how funding is paid on a fixed position size. Use the APR to APY calculator to add compounding.
